I’ve long wanted some of my models to materialize in the real world. Even though I don’t create models specifically for 3D printing, if my work ends up in the hands of a skilled craftsman, anything is possible.
geralt_store is exactly that kind of craftsman—he managed to prepare my model for printing with high quality. Since the model wasn’t originally designed for printing, certain issues are appearing now during the process. But it’s great that Vlad also understands 3D modeling and can adjust specific elements so they print correctly.
Here’s what my model looks like. More renders are available on CGTrader.

The process is made easier by the fact that I created the model in CAD, specifically in Plasticity, so Vlad was able to modify certain parts fairly easily. And this is how the first printed parts look. A lot of effort was also put into sanding the printed pieces.

Some issues appeared with the tracks and a few hinges. I need to fix these in my 3D model so the tracks fit properly onto the drive wheel. For some reason, I didn’t model them very neatly, even though I usually pay close attention to this. Perhaps the long break I took between modeling the track and the rest of the APC played a role. This is what the M113 track 3D model looks like, and the model can also be viewed and purchased on CGTrader:

3D Printing:

Due to some inaccuracies, the track links don’t fit perfectly. But it’s worth noting that in reality the tracks are tensioned by the idler wheel, while on the printed model this wheel is fixed in place.

The hull has started to gain details:

Some very small elements were printed by Vlad separately from the hull. For example, the hooks for attaching equipment on the hull, which were then glued on.

The turret and new details on the hull:

Meanwhile, I finished working on the 3D model of the M2HB Browning machine gun with the M23 mount. You can see more renders, purchase, and download the 3D model in my CGTrader store.

Right now the machine gun model has many small details, and it’s quite small when printed, so the print isn’t turning out as well as needed. Some adjustments to the model are required.
